Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions we get asked most.

What does the Förderverein actually do?

We support KiTa Unter'm Regenbogen with everything beyond day-to-day operations: trips and buses, equipment such as play and learning materials, festivals and events. In short: we fund the extras that make nursery life better for the children. The provider's responsibilities (staff, buildings, daily operations) remain with the provider.

How do I become a member?

Right here on the website: Become a member. Fill in the form, confirm your email address, and after a short period your membership starts automatically. You will then receive a welcome email.

How much does membership cost?

You choose your own fee: at least €1 a month or €12 a year, €5 a month is recommended, with no upper limit. Fees are collected by SEPA direct debit, monthly or once a year (calendar year, pro rata in the year you join). You can change your fee monthly (from the following month) or, for yearly payers, at the turn of the year.

Does my child have to attend the nursery for me to join?

No. Any adult can become a member: parents, grandparents, neighbours, alumni, or simply people from Stockelsdorf who want to support the nursery. Companies and minors are welcome to join by email.

Can I donate without being a member?

Yes, any time: by bank transfer or GiroCode, no registration needed: Donate. Our bank account will be opened after the founding and published here. If you want to help a specific project, simply use the payment reference from its project page. Your donation then counts towards its progress bar.

Can I collect donations for the association on my birthday?

Yes, with your own fundraising campaign under the motto "instead of gifts". You get your own campaign page with a QR code to share on WhatsApp or hand to your guests as printed cards. It works for birthdays, anniversaries, first days of school and, in a dignified form, for bereavements too. The board takes a quick look, then your page goes live, and every donation goes towards our work for the children.

Are fees and donations tax-deductible?

That is the goal: our statutes are designed for charitable status and have been positively pre-checked by the tax office. Once the formal determination (§ 60a AO) is issued after the founding, fees and donations will be deductible. For donations up to €300 the simplified proof will then suffice (bank statement plus our receipt from the donations page); donation certificates are sent out once a year. Until then: no guarantees, and we are not tax advisers.

Who decides what the money is spent on?

The elected board, within the purpose set by the statutes, often prompted by the nursery management, who know best what is needed. Membership fees and unrestricted donations are our association funds: from them the association finances projects in full or in part (especially when earmarked donations do not quite reach a goal) and covers the running costs. Association funds do not count towards the donation progress bars, so those stay honest; what the association contributes is shown separately on each project. You can see every initiative here with its goal and status straight from our bookkeeping.

What happens if a project does not go ahead?

Then we use the donations for another initiative benefiting the nursery within our statutory purposes. The same applies if more is raised than needed. This reallocation clause is shown on every project page before you donate, and we show on the website what the money was used for instead.

Why are there no photos of the children?

By conviction: we do not publish photos of identifiable children and do not collect children's data. The website shows the nursery and the projects through scenic and detail photos. Children's faces do not belong on the internet.

Has the association been founded yet?

Yes, the founding meeting took place on 28 August 2026 at the nursery. The entry in the register of associations, charitable status and the bank account are currently in progress. You can become a member at any time: Become a member. Fee collection only starts once the bank account is open. No fees are charged for the time before.

Can companies become members too?

Yes. Companies support the children with a regular corporate membership, an ordinary membership fee with nothing in return. Your contribution goes towards our work for the children of the KiTa; the online application only takes a few minutes.
